  • 30/01/2012 Week 1 - Welcome to the Hybrid CSI 30 course!

Hello and welcome to the course!

Our first meeting will be on Monday, January 30th, and the place of meeting so far scheduled to be NI 305 (Nichols Hall - High School's building).
Here is the Campus map: Campus_Map.pdf

I hope you all had a great rest during the winter recess.

On Monday, January 30th we'll have our first meeting.
Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, February 1st.

Please, note that this is a hybrid course.
Most of the time you will be spending home acquiring the material, doing a little bit of practice and homework. In class you will be also given some material (but much less), and most of the in-class time will be spent on practice.

Therefore, self-discipline is very important for this type of class. Do everything in a timely manner. Read/watch the material at home and do practice problems BEFORE you come to class. Make sure that you either have a two hour slot for it, or start doing it in parts in advance (for example, from Sunday). After the class it is best to start doing the homework as soon as possible. This way if you didn't understand anything during the lecture or don't know how to solve a particular problem you'll be able to get help (either at a Tutoring Lab, during my Office Hours, from you friends or classmates, online and so on).

This is a back-up web-site. It contains absolutely the same information as the blackboard course, but with no links to video lectures and no Blackboard Discussions.

During this week everybody should enroll themselves into our course on the Blackboard and familiarize themselves with it (check lecture videos, HW assignments, practice assignments and so on), if you want to use blackboard.

The organization of our course's materials here:
    1. Description of our course can be found in Course Information (see the menu in the top left corner).
    2. All the materials will be posted in Course Documents.
    3. HW assignments will be visible in two places: in Course Documents and in Assignments.
    4. Information about me and my office hours is in Staff Information.
    5. Some useful information (and links, including the required software for our course) is in Useful Links.
    6. Discussion Board is supported only by the Blackboard so far, on this web-site I will be posting blackboard questions in the Course Documents.
